CPUC to Host Virtual Wildfire Safety Advisory Board Meeting
The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will host a virtual meeting of the Wildfire Safety Advisory Board, as follows:
WHEN: Wednesday, April 15, 2020, 1 – 4 p.m.
WHERE: Online via WebEx or webcast; also available via conference line. Participation information is below.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend the meeting and provide their input on the Wildfire Safety Advisory Board’s Draft 2020 Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP) Recommendations. Based on the volume of participants, input may be limited to three minutes. On the agenda are the Wildfire Safety Advisory Board’s 2020 WMP Recommendations, a presentation by publicly-owned utility representatives, and a presentation by the Wildfire Safety Division.
Assembly Bill (AB) 1054, signed into law in July 2019, created the California Wildfire Safety Advisory Board, a board of independent expert advisors, to advise a new Wildfire Safety Division within the CPUC on wildfire safety measures, including plans written by utilities, so the CPUC can more effectively regulate the safety of investor-owned utilities. The Wildfire Safety Advisory Board will serve as an additional forum for the public to provide input on the important topic of wildfire safety.
